linking letters

Here’s a fun and engaging way to get the children to practise identifying letters and to develop fine motor skills in the process.  This is one of the activities in our ABC centre.  The children can sort, then match upper and lower-case letters.  The letters are in a basket near the word wall, so if the children need some support, they can refer to the word wall for help.  Of course, the possibilities don’t end here.  Some children had fun making their names.  Others took words from the word wall and practised linking the letters to make the words.  I think at a later time, I’ll do the same with high frequency words or with onsets and rimes and have the children put them together.

Obviously, I need to print up more lower-case, but she definitely knows her letters!
